about the artist
My apprenticeship as an artist,
began at the tender age of three,
Punished in a corner,
tears streaking down my cheeks.
How tediously slow were those hours!
Out of sheer boredom I would fall asleep,
Yet my poor desperate mother,
In need no doubt of some peace,
placed a small piece of paper and pencil,
at my corner … and well within my reach.
Through this loving and yet unorthodox method,
weird to you as it may seem,
the corner became my very first studio,
where I honed my drawing skills,
well before I was a teen.
Now, close to a century later,
I can smile, wonder, and thank the powers to be,
for inspiring the thought in my mother,
that brought forth the artist in me.
They say my work is “Zen-Tangle”,
as tangled as all my life’s dreams,
that show with unequivocal candor,
how very mischievous I must have been!!
